PRO DIVE HELPS TO SAVE THE OCEANS

We strongly support the idea of eco-friendly, sustainable diving.  

Our goal is to raise the awareness about the enviromently friendly diving practices but also about the threats for marine life and reef ecosystems.

We believe that together we can commit to protect and preserve marine life and future of our oceans.

Pro Dive International´s mission is to help and preserve the oceans and reefs. Therefore, it is essential to enhance efforts and apply sustainable solutions on the daily basis.

Pro Dive International’s environmental actions include (among others):

  • The use of biodegradable soaps and cleaning detergents at the bases
  • The use of environmentally more friendly 4 stroke engines which results in less gas and oil’s use but also less exhausts
  • The water in eco-friendly paper cups is provided to the guests as the courtesy
  • The launch of “Bring Your Cup!” program. It encourages divers to bring their reusable cup to any of Pro Dive’s centers in order to refill it with water. In this way we help to reduce the amount of trees cut down, gallons of water wasted and energy wasted
  • Pro Dive strongly promotes the idea of non-use or use of only environmental friendly sunscreens
  • For every bull shark dive booking, Pro Dive donates 5 USD to the Saving Our Sharks organization in order to support their local research and local conservation efforts
  • Renunciation of shark feeding practices.

The future of our oceans and planet depends on us ,so even the small actions can be extremely powerful and support the protection of the earth.

AS PART OF OUR ECO-DIVING PROJECT WE SUPPORT VARIOUS INTERNARIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS

SAVING OUR SHARKS

‘SAVING OUR SHARKS’ project focuses on the protection of Bull Sharks in the Mexican Riviera Maya, esp. by GPS tagging them in order to study their population, determine their genetic background, health status and migration patterns to help protect this species and conserve their critical habitats.

Within this programme, Pro Dive International also adopted bull shark «Ixchel» in order to support and promote local shark conservation.

SHARK ANGELS

Shark Angels are leading a positive, contagious movement to save sharks – and the oceans. It´s a passionate, global community that believes in the power of education, media and local grassroots campaigns. They raise awareness to the critical issues, educate children, change perspectives, and empower and connect advocates to act locally to save sharks and the critical ecosystems they support.

Shark Angels organize worldwide online auction in order to continue their efforts to help the future of sharks and the oceans. Every year, Pro Dive International and Allegro Cozumel donate stay&dive package for that online auction with respect towards their work and to support further protection of sharks and the oceans.

SHARK TRUST

The shark trust is the organization which promotes the idea of a future where sharks thrive within a globally healthy marine ecosystem. They closesly work with the UK Government and an ever-growing network of partners. Shark conservation is a global issue needing global solutions. In 2016 launched a new Global Plan for sharks and rays with a coalition of international partners.
Based in the UK, they represent a membership base from around the world!

TURTLE FOUNDATION

An initiative for the protection of the endangered sea turtles.

Turtle Foundation was founded by a small group of dedicated private individuals with the common aim of preventing endangered sea turtles from becoming extinct. It is an international charitable organization. Turtle Foundation organize worldwide raffle in order to continue their efforts to help the future of sea turtles and their habitats. Every year, Pro Dive International donate dive package for that auction with respect towards their work and to support further protection of sea turtles.

REEF CHECK

Founded in 1996, the Reef Check Foundation exists to help preserve the oceans and reefs which are critical to our survival, yet are being destroyed. With headquarters in Los Angeles and volunteer teams in more than 90 countries and territories, Reef Check works to protect tropical coral reefs and California rocky reefs through education, research and conservation.

SEA SAVE

Sea Save´s mission is to generate consciousness and encourage stewardship of natural ecosystems while continuing with other charitable educational activities associated with this purpose. Sea Save Foundation strives to protect our oceans by raising awareness about the beauty of marine ecosystems and their fundamental importance to human survival. They seek solutions, advance public policy, and drive advocacy. Sea Save organize worldwide auction in order to continue their efforts to help the future of natural ecosystems. PROJECT AWARE

Project AWARE connects the passion for ocean adventure with the purpose of marine conservation. It takes action to create both local and global change for the ocean and the communities who depend on it. Pro Dive International is part of this community and continuously organizes monthly beach clean ups to support the vision of healthy and clean ocean.

“ADOPTA UNA PLAYA” - PRO DIVE ADOPTED THE BEACH IN COZUMEL

It is a program established from ZOFEMAT (Zona Federal Maritima) and proposed to us from Parque Nacional Arrecifes de Cozumel in which PDI has decided to participate. “Adopta una Playa” is a structured beach clean up around Cozumel island in which, several companies, organizations and citizens are participating. Every participant is assigned a beach to adopt and become responsible to perform a beach clean up once a month in that spot. 

 

FUNDEMAR - CORAL NURSERY

Pro Dive International together with Catalonia Gran Dominicus and FUNDEMAR organization are part of a local initiative which focuses on growing new corals and re-planting them in the surroundings of Bayahibe area, and especially in front of Catalonia Gran Dominicus hotel.

Having these coral nurseries on the beach in front of the hotel requires very special care. Pro Dive International together with Catalonia Hotels & Resorts are responsible for maintaining and cleaning these nurseries every month, as well as do the replanting.
