PADI Bull Shark Diver & PADI Bull Shark Awareness Specialties

After hundreds of dives with Bull Sharks, nature and wildlife guide Barna Takats introduced two exceptional PADI specialty courses in 2012: the PADI Bull Shark Diver and the PADI Bull Shark Awareness. These specialized programs were meticulously crafted by Barna to provide divers and non-divers with the unique opportunity to explore the captivating world of bull sharks in the remarkable waters of Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Pioneering these courses, Barna aimed to offer an enriching and educational experience while fostering a deeper appreciation for these magnificent creatures that grace both the local und global underwater landscapes.

 

By making these courses available to Pro Dive International’s instructors, both Barna and Pro Dive directly contribute to Shark Conservation and Project AWARE.

1. PADI Bull Shark Diver Distinctive Specialty

Course Objectives

Upon completing the PADI Bull Shark Diver Distinctive Specialty course the student diver will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate diving skills and procedures necessary when diving with bull sharks.
  2. Describe the conservation efforts, the physical characteristics, habitat and behavior of bull sharks, and of sharks in general.
  3. Describe the purpose ofProject Aware, how to join, and how to help the efforts the organization undertakes to help the world’s shark population.

Requirements

  • Open Water Certification with a min. of 25 logged dives
  • Excellent buoyancy and air consumption
  • Spotless health conditions, no records
  • Feeling of comfort and awareness of risk
  • 1 or 2 local dives and final ok

Package

2 dives are required and can be used from your purchased tank package
Shark excursion fee applies, depending on your location
PADI Certification at US$55 (30/10/2023, subject to change)

2. PADI Bull Shark Awareness Distinctive Specialty

Course Objectives

Upon completing the PADI Bull Shark Awareness Distinctive Specialty, the student diver will be able to:
  1. Describe the conservation efforts, the physical characteristics, habitat and behavior of bull sharks, and of sharks in general
  2. Describe the purpose of Project Aware, how to join, and how to help the efforts the organization makes to help the worlds shark population on.
